Adding Business Knowledge

How to give your Org's agents the internal documents, links, and connected apps they need to act on your business accurately.

Before your agents can represent your business well, they need to know about it. The Knowledge step in Foundry is where you load your documents, reference links, and connected apps into your Org. Everything you add here feeds Neutron, the shared memory layer your whole Org reads from, so any agent that needs an answer can find it instead of guessing.

Before you start

You need an Org already underway in Foundry, with its idea defined and its workforce set up. If you have not staffed your Org yet, see Building Your Agent Team first. Have your reference material ready: internal documents, contracts, examples, policies, and any web addresses your agents should know about.

Steps

  1. Choose who can see each piece of knowledge. Pick whether it applies to the whole Org (everyone reads it), a single role, or a single agent. Leave it at the whole-Org setting unless the material is confidential to one part of the business.

  2. Add your files. Drag and drop or paste in documents such as internal docs, contracts, examples, and policies. As you add files, keep an eye on the running count so you know how much has gone in.

  3. Add reference links. If you have a website, API docs, product docs, or social profiles your agents should be able to consult, register each one as a link, with a label and the same visibility tier (Org, offer, or agent) as your files. You can remove a link later if it is no longer relevant.

  4. Connect your business apps. If your business runs on tools such as Slack, Notion, Drive, a code repository, Stripe, or X, authorize Vanar to read from them. You do this by authorizing in your own browser session directly with the app, the same way you would for any other app you connect. Your credentials never pass through the chat itself.

  5. Confirm the knowledge index. Once you are satisfied with what has been added, confirm you are done for now. If you have nothing to add yet, tell Foundry to skip this step, you can always add knowledge later from your Org's dashboard.

What to configure

  • Visibility tier for each file and link: whole Org, a specific role, or a specific agent

  • Reference links with a label and a kind (website, API docs, product docs, social, or other)

  • Which business apps to connect, and the access you grant each one during authorization

What you should see

As you add files, links, and connected apps, the knowledge counter for this step increases to reflect what has been indexed. Once you confirm the index, this step is marked complete and Foundry moves you on to describing what your Org sells.

Confirming with nothing uploaded still completes this step cleanly. Simply saying you will add knowledge later, without confirming, leaves the step open and can block later steps in setting up your Org.

Checking it worked

The knowledge counter shows a file count above zero (or an explicit skip if you chose not to add anything yet), the step shows as complete, and Foundry asks what your Org sells, which is the next step in setting it up.

Where to go next

With your business knowledge in place, move on to Creating Your Offers to describe what your Org sells. If you still need to assign roles or add agents to your workforce, revisit Building Your Agent Team.
