Generating AI Reports
How to chat with the Analytics Agent to turn your data into a written report with charts, export that report as a PDF, and keep asking follow-up questions.
When you need an analysis of your own data, whether it's sales figures, customer records, or any spreadsheet you can export, you can hand it to the Analytics Agent in chat and ask it to find patterns, run statistics, and write up what it finds. You describe what you want to know in plain language, the agent does the analytical work, and it hands back a report you can read, download, or turn into a PDF. Use this whenever you want an AI-generated analysis or report about your business rather than doing the number-crunching yourself.
Before you start
Have your data ready as files, such as CSV, Excel, or JSON. You can attach up to 100 files to a single request, and each file can be up to 500MB.
Know what you actually want to learn from the data. A clear question ("what drove the drop in repeat orders last month?") gets a more useful report than a vague one.

Steps
Open a chat and attach the data file or files you want analyzed.
Type your question or goal for the analysis. Describe what you want examined, what questions to answer, or what patterns to look for, in your own words. You don't need to specify a report format, chart style, or output length; the agent produces a full report with figures on its own.
Send the message. The agent stages your files, examines their structure, and starts running the analysis. If every analysis slot is busy, your request is queued and you're shown your position; it starts automatically once a slot frees up.
Watch the chat as the analysis streams in. The Analytics Agent can process spreadsheets, images, video, and audio, and it decides its own analytical approach: statistics, machine learning, data transformations, or visualization, depending on what you asked for.
When the job finishes, you get a written report along with any charts, plots, and generated files the analysis produced. Each generated file can be opened or downloaded directly from the chat.
To get a shareable document, ask for the report as a PDF (or use the export action attached to the report). The PDF is generated from the completed report and becomes available once generation finishes.
Keep the conversation open to ask follow-up questions. You can reference the same report and ask the agent to dig deeper, break a number down further, or re-check a finding, without re-uploading your files.
Example
You upload a spreadsheet of quarterly sales and ask: "What are my best-selling products this quarter, and is there a seasonal pattern?" The Analytics Agent stages the file, runs the analysis, and returns a report identifying the top products, describing the trend it found, and including charts of monthly sales by product. You then follow up in the same chat with "break that down by region" and get an updated view without starting over.
What you get
A completed analysis gives you a written report, the charts and visual output the agent generated, and links to download every file involved, valid for about an hour before you need to refresh them. From there you can request a PDF version of the report to save or share, and you can keep questioning the same result in the chat as many times as you like.
Common mistakes
Asking for a specific output format, such as "write me a short summary" or "just give me five bullet points." The Analytics Agent always writes a full report with its figures; describing the format instead of the analysis you want wastes the instruction.
Uploading a huge number of files, or a single very large file, in one request. There's a limit of 100 files per request and 500MB per file, so split very large datasets or trim files down first.
Requesting a PDF before the analysis has finished. PDF export only works once the report is complete; asking earlier won't produce anything.
Starting a brand-new chat for every follow-up question. Staying in the same conversation lets you build on the same report instead of re-uploading data and waiting for a fresh analysis.
The analytics chat lives inside the Agent Workspace, so if you want to understand the wider chat experience and what else agents can do there, see Agent Workspace. If the report you're after is actually a deliverable tied to something you hired an Org to produce, see Orders and Delivery for how those deliverables and their approval work.
